FACT Summer Games
September 5-7

We can't tell you how pleased we are that our good friends from FACT will be at Rainbow Mountain again, for their 23rd Annual FACT Summer Games. We especially like a great party with lots of fun - all for a good cause. (It makes Amanda feel honorable about drinking in the early afternoon; okay, late morning and early afternoon.)

Friday, we'll kick it off with a Karaoke Contest in the MouseTrap Lounge. $5 to enter (all money goes to FACT) and the winner scores a bar tab and two tickets to the FACT Summer Games on Sunday (and, of course, the adulation of the crowd - which can be used to your advantage later in the evening at the Hot Tub, Sauna and Pool).

Saturday, it's our annual Limbo Contest. The winner scores a bar tab and two tickets to the FACT Summer Games on Sunday and the honor and privilege of representing the Mountain in the Limbo Contest at Sunday's games. If you bring home the trophy on Sunday, it's free admission to the Nightclub for the rest of the year (including New Year's Eve). Winner also receives the crowd's adulation for dexterity, which is definitely a bankable talent after hours. (Amanda's tongue is planted so firmly in her cheek, she fears it will pop through. Then, she recalls that lots of things have bumped into that cheek, and none have ever popped through.)

Sunday, it's THE GAMES. It officially starts at 12:30 pm, but folks start arriving and milling around considerably earlier. The afternoon will be filled with team competitions, non-stop entertainment, great food, vendors and games.

The pool, pool deck and pool bar will still be open. And the rates will have switched back to fall rates.

A great cause, a great party, off-season rates and one last day at the Pool - it's a win-win-win-win!

Whitewater Rafting
September 12-14

The deal is the same as our inaugural outing last September, except we're going two weeks earlier - so the water is a tad warmer if (okay, when) we fall in. Once again we've chosen a dam release day, so class III rapids are guaranteed. The trip is included with every two-night stay in the Cherry House, Deluxe or any Cabin. Folks who stay in the Lodge, and any local guests, can purchase the trip separately.

The Lehigh River Gorge is surrounded by state park protected woodlands and mountains. There are 12 miles and 5 hours of Class III whitewater rafting and outstanding scenery to enjoy. This is a fun, thrilling, and pristine trip that everyone can do…no experience necessary! While paddling over 17 rapids you’ll scream, laugh, swim, and have an excellent day.

We car caravan to Jim Thorpe River Adventures , which is approximately 1 hour away; then, take the shuttle to the river. All necessary rafting equipment, life jacket, insurance, parking, shuttle service to and from the river and experienced river guides are included. And Rainbow Mountain packs your lunch and beverages (now if we can only figure out how to keep our lunch in the raft).

We have to buy the tickets two weeks in advance, so we ask that you make your reservations early.

There will be Volleyball in the Dance Club on Friday to warm your muscles up for Saturday's adventure.

And Saturday, it's our best bruise contest (not that anyone will really get bruised on our trip).

Sunday, we pull the plug on the Pool. All canned beer and alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles will be on sale, while supplies last. Same for the BBQ. And bring your pet along for a swim.

Simone's impressive bio:

SIMONE ASSBOECK , originally from Germany, came to the United States with a long dance history and broad dance background. She began Ballroom dancing when she was 7 years old, and has competed successfully for over 10 years in the International Latin and Standard divisions. Within that time, her achievements and titles ranged from German State Champion, to being a finalist in the European dance community, to the most prestigious of all competitions in the world, the ' Blackpool ' competition in England . Her love for, dedication to, and knowledge of dancing drove her dance career and she became a professional judge and dance coach. She devoted herself full-time to the competitive Ballroom dance community, teaching both adults and children. A Masters Degree in Physical Education with a focus on Modern Dance and Rehabilitation rounded out her expertise in movement and dance. Simone has 15 years experience teaching dance, and has been teaching at Stepping Out Studios, one of New York 's most-renowned Ballroom dance studios, since 2001. There, she added Hustle, Salsa, Swing and American Style Ballroom to her repertoire. Her passion for dance paved the way for her to perform at such events as the New York City Festival of Dance and Midsummer Night's Swing at Lincoln Center; and to compete victoriously at Hustle competitions such as the International Hustle and Salsa event in Miami and Hustle USA. Simone has also appeared on television shows including ABC News, NBC's Today Show, ABC Channel 7, and in the recently released Walt Disney movie "Enchanted".

In 2005 Simone formed Rhythm Locura , New York ’s premier LGBT Latin dance group. Under her artistic direction, the group won first place at the 5 Borough Dance Challenge in the spring of 2007. Rhythm Locura has performed at numerous Pride events and venues including the LGBT Expo Event at the Javitz Center , Brooklyn Pride, SAGE Event at the China Club, and BAAD as well as Queens Pride and Manhattan Pride. Their present repertoire of dances includes Salsa, Rumba, Cha-Cha, and Hustle. With Rhythm Locura Simone created a dynamic and vibrant group that aims to celebrate and to bring the joy of Latin dance to the LGBT community.

Men's Fetish Weekend
September 26-28

The first weekend of fall. The weather should be a little cooler. The perfect opportunity to don the leather or the uniform or the kilt or the...

Friday night, it's our Sleaziest Karaoke Contest. It's not about talent. It's about presentation. It's not about performance. It's about potential. Winner gets to be the first in the sling.

Speaking of sling, our equipped Hospitality Suite will be open 24/7 - with videos, sling, St. Andrew's Cross, wall of glory holes and soda (you can always say you're there because you're thirsty). Thirsty? Amanda suspects you'll swallow more than your share of water in the Hot Tub, what with all the time you'll spend under water with your mouth open. Thirsty? Yes, the water sports area will be open. And the Sauna; don't forget the Sauna.

Saturday night, it's a Wear Your Fetish Party and Contest.

What? That's not the kind of water sports you were thinking about?

Bonus! Bonus! Bonus! Our favorite BuffStuff Beefcake Boy is returning. Dick Damonson will be here all weekend - eating at the congregate table, judging the Sleaziest Karaoke Contest, and socializing in the Dance Club on Friday; hanging out, eating at the congregate table, wearing his fetish, performing in the Dance Club, and hitting the after hours spots on Saturday.

It just keeps getting better! Dick will be bringing along some freebies from his second studio, Treasure Island Media. The link takes you to an adult site, where you have to opt in, so Amanda does not feel compelled to issue her usual gazillion warnings to the faint-of-heart.

Our mini-photo tribute to Dick (and, by that, we mean Damonson).

More Pics of Dick's (Amanda believes that may be a double possessive,
but she is not one to let good grammar get in the way of a good pun).

Your two-night stay also includes a complimentary ticket to the nearby Shawnee Mountain Rodeo and Chili Cookoff. Men in tight jeans and chaps with hundreds of pounds of wild meat between their legs (yee, ha).

Their blurb, if you don't want to take the link: Come and experience the thrill of the Pro Cowboys competing in five events, including Saddle Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Calf Roping and Bull Dogging.

These events are fully approved and sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and will feature Pros from the First Frontier Circuit competing for thousands of dollars in prize money. Chili Cookoff from 11:30AM - 1:30PM (both days). Come early & sample a variety of Chilis from mild to hot to white chili! Vote for your favorite. Slopeside seating will be available to all spectators, so bring your own blanket or lawn chair & enjoy the events.

There will also be country line dancing, a country & western vendors bazaar and a Hickory Licks Barbecue both Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, October 10
Karaoke on the Big Stage
Saturday, October 11
Steamy, Starving, Straight, Student Strippers
Friday, we
move all the equipment upstairs and plug it into the big speakers that surround the dance floor. We even set the dance floor with table-and-chair seating. This is your chance to become the karaoke star you were always meant to be - whether it's sleazy lounge-singer or disco diva. We are all here to fulfill that fantasy. So, go ahead. Tell all your friends you're performing at Rainbow Mountain that evening. (If you email us a photo, we will put it on the poster and the website; they'll never know.)

Saturday, we believe the alliterations say it all. Steamy = hot, Starving = in need of cash (or in need of a good meal), Straight = straight (but Amanda always wonders when these boys approach us to perform), Student = young and intelligent (so great conversation on that date, when you take one out for a good meal), Stripper = they will be removing various articles of clothing as their performances progress. Amanda also wants to point out that Straight = not great dancers, and Student Strippers = no experience doing this sort of thing. So, we are asking you to keep the entertainment expectations bar real low on this one. They are all nice kids, and we're not certain why they're interested in doing this, but Amanda is not one to over-examine a gift horse (and by this, Amanda does NOT mean to infer that anything about horses and these young men will be similar; though Amanda is quick to point out that she could be wrong). Just to finalize the sincerity of the deal, the ringleader of this gang is our very own Poolboy Steven, who joined us last year on this very same weekend to exercise on his Bowflex and who is featured on our Photo Gallery page. Stevie promises that once the other boys get back from camp (calm down, they're counselors), photos will be forthcoming. Stay tuned.

The photos have arrived and Amanda is truly perplexed. Supposedly, one of the boy's girlfriends took the photos and photo-shopped them to the final product. Amanda has cut-and-pasted the heads of other, more famous "non-gay" boys, to protect the identity of our "non-gay" students. Amanda has added the "non-gay" because the photos and poses have thrown all basic assumptions to the wind. (The unretouched photos are on display in-house.) There's also a group shot (again, only on display in house) that would put the original Charlie's Angels publicity photo to shame. What are these boys thinking? Enjoy the merchandise and decide for yourself!

Bears and Big Guys
October 17-19

For the 7th time (!), the manly men get together for a weekend of brotherhood and camaraderie (perhaps, a euphemism?).

Friday, it’s our Sloth of Bears Get-Together with drink specials and free finger-food. A sloth is the name for a gathering of bears, and has nothing to do with the seven deadly sins. However, that is not to say that we are opposed to other "sins" being committed throughout the weekend (perhaps, yet another euphemism).

Saturday, it’s our Bear Meat Party. How lucky are we? The Lehigh Valley's premiere DJ, David Petrilla, will be spinning. great music and a great big "woof! on the visual.

The weekend is once again hosted by the beary-licious Matt, who will join us at congregate dining and make certain you find your way to the Bear’s Den Hospitality Suite, the Hot Tub and the Sauna.

And your two-night stay includes a complimentary ticket to the Timber and Balloon Festival at nearby Shawnee Mountain. Their blurb follows: Morning and afternoon hot air balloon launches (rides available by reservation); tethered hot air balloon rides also available. IRONJACK Timber Team Lumberjack Shows - as seen on OLN (log rolling, pole climbing, axe and chainsaw competitions, buck sawing and more). Plus, good time bands, pig races & chainsaw sculpture. Scenic chairlift rides. Sky Diving exhibitions. Slopeside seating will be available to all spectators, so bring your own blanket or lawn chair & enjoy the events. And the fall foliage is peaking.

Our pictorial tribute to Matt follows (we would have placed it immediately after the first mention of his name, but Amanda figured you may never have gotten to the part about the free tickets - and the pigs).

Amanda has once again been instructed that she may not editorialize on the photos. This job is becoming less and less fun.

You can take this link to Matt's ADULT Website, if you would like. The link is to his calendar page, on which there are no photographs. From his calendar, you need to click on either his home page or his video page. That means you have to click here first, then again on his website to get to the adult stuff. If you do that, Amanda will not be responsible if you feign being aghast at the content of his ADULT website

Fall TG/CD Weekend
October 24-26
Amanda was going to go with TG/CD Extravaganza or Spectacular, but she she didn't want to oversell what has easily become one of our most popular and enjoyable weekends. Everyone (resort guests, locals and staff) know a good time is a slam-dunk. In fact, as of this moment (Wednesday, August 27, 4:05 pm), only two Lodge rooms, half the Cherry House rooms and the nonrenovated Small and Large Cabins are available (i.e., 65% of the rooms are already reserved...and counting). Call 570-223-8484 now, so you won't be disappointed.
(If you're wondering what The Pole has to do with this, read on.)

Friday, we always kick it off with a Welcome Wine and Cheese Reception - an excellent opportunity for returning guests to catch up with old friends and a comfortable time for first-timers to mingle and meet. Then, dinner. Then, we all head down to the Dance Club, which will be set with table-and-chair seating, for a Talent Show. We'll have the Karaoke equipment upstairs, but you don't have to limit yourself. Any and all talent is welcome to perform in front of the truly warm and receptive crowd.

Saturday, the Clothing (and wigs and jewelry) Swap begins in the Lobby. Bring your gently used outfits and exchange for one that's new-to-you.

Saturday afternoon, Lisa is talking about a Winery Tour, stay tuned.

We'll have broken out the Halloween decorations early, so Saturday at dinner it's a Halloween Costume Party and Photo-Op.

Feel free to wear that costume to the Nightclub, but only if it allows lots of movement, cause we'll initiate our new dance pole that evening with a Pole Dancing Contest. We added a few photos of some of the gals who are already more than a little proficient at The Pole. (Please know Amanda is gagging on all the double-entendre she could add here; but, above all, she is a Lady.)

We welcome back Heaven Leigh, who will be doing make-overs all weekend at your convenience (since she has no life).

Halloweekend
Oct 31 - Nov 2

Halloweekend – a legendary experience. The tone is set on Friday with Heaven Leigh’s tribute to all things scary – her annual drag show “Macabre” - no one does horrible and gruesome like Heaven - and here is her very own poster to prove it (of course, Amanda suspects you would have already guessed it is her very own poster, since her photo is the only one on the poster, even though there are, like, a million other performers: Visa D'Klined, Scarlett Lettah, Anastasia DeLaRox, Mary Annette and more - none of whom are burdened with Miss Leigh's ego [or, perhaps, just not as penilly-challenged as Miss Leigh]). Amanda admits that was a bit of a run-on sentence, but when the prose is running fast and furious, it's difficult to stop Amanda's flying fingers.

Saturday afternoon, we carve pumpkins, enjoy the fall air and colors, and carve more pumpkins. Saturday night, it’s our annual Halloween Costume Party and Contest, with $800 in cash prizes. Yes, yes, we know Halloween is actually on Friday, but we also know folks have to travel to get here and need time to prepare – so Saturday it is!

The envelop containing the categories, please!

Wow! How understated was that pathetic listing. Nonetheless, you get the gist. Add the superlative of your choosing (preferably an alliterative one), grab your sewing machine and get going!
